My sculpture

Clay is a medium that is both soft and hard to me. My work is an attempt to challenge visualization of the contrast and harmony with these two distinctive characteristics. The meaning of my work comes from the desire to express the energy and impact at the moment of creation of the universe, and the expanding moments right after.

I work mostly in two ways. I build natural shapes of clay by throw it on a surface or tearing it with my hand or foot. Another method I use is to make various shapes of opening made by stretching holes on thick slabs of clay with which to build cubic structures with openings. I combine these contrasting shapes like fitting puzzles, so as to create harmonious structures.

The openings going through the heart of the cubic structure are put in contrast to its straight lines. Furthermore, they are intended to show how existential objects interact with non-existing emptiness by revealing the empty space.
